The Ferndale Downtown Association is a collection of businesses and community members.  Below you will find just of few of the ways that we are working together to promote and enhance the downtown area. New members are always welcome!

City Wide Clean-Up

Ferndale Downtown hosts Ferndale’s City-wide Clean-up Day in April. Volunteers come to clean up downtown by picking up litter, sweeping sidewalks and weeding public areas. There are huge recycling bins for metals, appliances, electronics, large items and yard debris. A paper shredder is on site, donations are asked for to offset the cost of it.

Harvest Festival

Ferndale Downtown hosts a Harvest Festival in October with pumpkin games for children. There is pumpkin golf, pumpkin bowling, bean bag, apple and ring toss games. Children are given their own pumpkin to draw a face on and can guess the weight of a giant pumpkin. The winner gets to take the pumpkin home. The mural they drew last year was saved and displayed at a fall city- wide meeting.

Volunteer

Street Fair

We participate in the Street Fair in August. Rock painting for children is great fun and we survey everyone about businesses they would like to see in Ferndale and any other comments they would like to make about downtown Ferndale. We keep a tally of the information and use it along with the Ferndale Chamber when working on real estate walks of empty buildings.

Volunteer

Holiday Light Competition

We encourage businesses to add festive lights at Christmas time and award a traveling trophy to the best business.

Merchant Mingles

Merchant Mingles are held about every 6-8 weeks to encourage downtown business owners and managers to meet and get to know each other. We hold the event in different businesses or empty buildings with food and drinks.

Banners and Benches

Banners and Benches enhance the downtown area as well as serving to advertise, promote, or remember.  Both can be purchased through the FDA.
